Sending notifications

Reaching out to users

The Altinity Cloud Manager lets administrators send notifications to users. To send a notification, go to the Notifications tab in the left navigation bar:

The Notifications tab

To send a new notification, click the button. You’ll see the Message tab in the Notification Details dialog:

You decide how to classify each notification. For notifications issued by the Altinity Cloud Manager itself, the four levels are:

  • - Updates for general information
  • - Notifications of general news and updates in Altinity.Cloud
  • - Notifications of possible issues that are less than critical
  • - Critical notifications that can effect your clusters or account

You can, of course, use the four classifications any way you like.

The message field supports markdown; in the message in Figure 2, the text maddie-byoc will appear in bold. Clicking the link below the text box takes you to the details of the GitHub Flavored Markup Spec.

Once you’ve written your message, go to the Recipients tab to choose who should get the notification:

You have three options:

  • Everyone - Self-explanatory
  • Recently Active Users - Everyone who has used the system in the last 15 minutes
  • Specific - This one gives you lots of flexibility. This is selected in Figure 3 above. You can choose to send the notification to everyone with a specific role, everyone in an organization, or you can click the arrow to expand an organization and select specific users.

Once your message is classified and written and you’ve chosen your recipients, click the button to save and send your message.
